Natural Environment

No extraction will occur in provincially significant wetlands or habitats of threatened and endangered species, or significant woodlands and appropriate setbacks from these areas will be maintained.

The natural lands which are not part of the extraction area will continue to host wetlands, forests and fish and wildlife and will serve as a natural buffer between the proposed quarry and the community.

Dust and Noise

As we move forward with our application, we will proceed in a responsible manner, do our due diligence and work cooperatively with the community to develop viable solutions. We will continue to update local residents throughout the planning stage and involve them in developing solutions as they arise.

Dust

We will use best management practices that have proven to be very effective at our other sites. We will use several techniques to minimize dust and noise, including regularly washing and sweeping roads and utilizing natural buffer zones and sound barriers, such as tree screens and earthen embankments known as berms.

Noise

We follow best management practices to reduce any noise and vibrations created by aggregate extraction. All blasting activity and the operation of industrial machinery will comply with the provincial government standards regarding ground vibration and air concussion. Ontario's standards are among the most stringent in North America.

The controls to mitigate dust and noise for this site will be detailed in our site plan that will be submitted for comment and approval to the Ministry of Natural Resources and the City of Hamilton.
